WHATEVER: Say something about your background.

CHRISTOPHE GUILLARMÉ: I was raised in the South of France and that’s why I’m mixing Riviera colors and details with exquisite sense of couture and style that I learned in Paris. As I’m graduated by the one and only public school there named Duperré, everyone wants to enter it as there is no fees to study, and it’s a great formation on creative skills.

WHATEVER: When did you first realize you wanted to pursue a career as a designer?

CHRISTOPHE GUILLARMÉ: Since I was a child thruthly! For me fashion is a religion and I was born to it, having the chance to be a designer for the working hours and devotion to the work can be compared to a priest ‘s selflessness but in a more glamour way.

WHATEVER: For many years you’ve been participating in Fashion Weeks around the world but among all
of them, you probably have a favorite. Tell us about it!

CHRISTOPHE GUILLARMÉ: I have a special feeling every time I’m showing in Paris where it all started and every designer wants to be part of. I had also some amazing moments in St Petersburg, Bangkok, Dubai...

WHATEVER: What inspires your designs the most?

CHRISTOPHE GUILLARMÉ: I’m very clear with my Dolce Vita’s aesthetic since so many years working on
it: information & culture are the keys, I’m addicted to the latest movies and also looking after major red carpets; It feeds my inspiration.

WHATEVER: What aspects of the fashion industry would you like to change?

CHRISTOPHE GUILLARMÉ: I simply hate the snobbish face of this industry, & I really hope not to be part of it.

WHATEVER: When you started your career as a young man in Paris, did you ever think that you would become such a brilliant, internationally recognized designer?

CHRISTOPHE GUILLARMÉ: Sincerely not but I have to say talent is not so rare in the end despite obstinacy is not so common and it makes the difference. I’m not someone who gives up easily.

WHATEVER: Christophe, what do you think is the most beautiful dress you’ve ever designed?

CHRISTOPHE GUILLARMÉ: I think the perfect dress belongs to the right time & place. For example when I dressed up an actress Blanca Blanco in shocking pink for Golden Globes, Paris Hilton in golden sequins for Fashion for Relief by Naomie Campbell, Lindsay Lohan in a contemporary version of Grace Kelly to the Amfar Gala in Cannes, and in 2020 when Agatha Maksimova went to Venice Film Festival wearing a black embellished & slitted gown after months without any events it was magic!

WHATEVER: If you could go back and tell yourself one thing before beginning your career what would it be?

CHRISTOPHE GUILLARMÉ: Never give up and not to change anything!

WHATEVER: Where do you see yourself in the next 10 years?

CHRISTOPHE GUILLARMÉ: Finally back on the runway and red carpet after this year I’m so frustrated not to attend it! Now that our lifestyle seems so fragile I just want to go back to it. Or second option is to live half of the year on a Thailand’s Island.

WHATEVER: Who is a perfect Christophe Guillarmé woman?

CHRISTOPHE GUILLARMÉ: I love to collaborate for years with models that are individuals with a strong temper. Uniqueness & nerve are so important to me!

WHATEVER: What advice would you give for any young aspiring fashion designers out there?

CHRISTOPHE GUILLARMÉ: Definitely never giving up, stay focus, practice as many foreign languages as possible & post a lot on social medias.
